We welcome new boarders into our dedicated holding houses, where they are guided through their transition into boarding life with care and warmth. This settling-in phase helps them build friendships, gain confidence, and grow into the rhythm of their new home away from home.
Our boarding houses are thoughtfully structured to reflect a balance of independence and togetherness. Each house is led by a Residential House Master with the House Parents, supported by resident mentors, and pastoral staff who live on campus. Our Head of Pastoral, and wellness team ensure students are well cared for, every hour of the day.
At SGIS, we believe that pastoral care is not reactive-it is proactive and continuous. We weave well-being, life skills, and emotional resilience into the everyday experience of school life. Our Wellness Centre, open 24/7, provides professional care, while school counsellors and tutors offer individual guidance in a confidential and supportive environment.
Our life skills and values education programme, integrated into each grade level, ensures that students develop emotionally, ethically, and socially, alongside their academic growth. We foster responsibility, empathy, and integrity in every child.
The boarding schedule follows a seven-day cycle, with academic classes from Monday to Saturday. Sundays are for reflection, rest, outings, and creative exploration-whether through treks in the hills, art workshops, sports, or community service.
House life is central to the SGIS identity. It is where students form lasting friendships, share responsibilities, and celebrate milestones together. Our vibrant inter-house competitions in academics, sports, music, theatre, debate, and leadership foster healthy competition and collective pride.
Leadership development is integral to our boarding experience. Students are offered increasing levels of responsibility—from class representatives and event leaders to House Captains and School Prefects.
